Die Chipped 1976 penny

I might have been hosed on that dime, but at least I found a decent die chipped penny in my copper bulk! It is about AU condition.

Help an old man out and tell me where the chip is. All I can see is a stain on the obverse. Both photos get blurry when I try to enlarge them.

 

And neither do I.

 

The line going from below the L to the back, and back around.

 

That area is indented.

 

If it’s indented then it’s not a die chip. Die chips are raised because a chunk of the die broke off and the metal would flow into the broken die.

 

No, I meant that bit is visibly lower than the rest.

 

I think your coin may have a unretained lamination.
There are different type and vary in composition greatly.

This is a Die Chip on the number 9..
You would just say chip not chipped
