Die Chip?

    On this 1942 S, could this be a die chip on the vertical tail of the 4?

    Yep these chips end up in the most weird places on the coin and sometimes can trick you. A die chip it is

    From what I see it looks like the die is deteriorated or polished off next to the 4 and the 2.
