Don't know what this is, appreciate any info. The reverse with Lincoln Memorial is fine. The face is missing completely. Almost like the face was surgically removed. Just curious if anyone had ever seen something like this. Thanks. On another note, I'm amazed no one had the name proof on a coin forum, lol.
Hey don't throw this one out in the trash so fast. You may have a really good error coin here but I can't tell for sure from the photos. The sure way to tell is to weigh it to see if the weight is right. If the coin has been hollowed out then it is PMD like the others says. It is possible for a coin to be struck on only side at the mint. This happens when two coins enters the coining chamber at the same time. your photos looks like the coin is a nickel color on one side and copper on the other side , if this is the way it really looks then like someone else said it has been machined with the copper layer removed.
