Die adjustment strike?

    Is this a die adjustment strike or wear? Approx 30.2 mm (reeding is worn down) X 1.5 mm thick approx 11 grams (scale is only accurate to 1g but if it was 11.5 scale would read 12).

    It sure looks like one or a weak strike. Only parts of the central design show on each side of the coin.

    The first two photos are rather blurred, but from what I see this coin was altered outside the Mint. If this was a low-pressure strike, you'd see preservation of the original proto-rim of the unstruck planchet along the periphery, especially where the design is absent. Instead, there is complete absence of both the proto-rim and the design rim in the most "weakly struck" areas. Furthermore, there doesn't appear to be any weakness in the center, which is incompatible with the significant weakness around the periphery. The abnormally low weight and the complete absence of reeding is also an indication of post-strike alteration.
