Elagabalus RPC VI, 6128. Perge, Pamphylia
Now 1 of 2 and only one in private hands.

Here's a rare Elagabalus (laur. type) that I picked up a month or so ago. The original pictures don't make for a very good impression- thankfully for the wallet! This guy pretty much went unnoticed in the auctions.
I'm happy to add it to my collection as one of my top 3 Elagabalus portraits (youthful). And the reverse temple was cleaned up witha bit of Goof-off to show even the two levels of the fighting scene and the Pergaean Artemis statue which sits on top of a crescent moon. To some degree the indentation in the cornice, the raking cornice, and the capitals on the columns are visible.
My camera was not able to get the focus with the rest of the coin. It is much nicer in hand.
Lastly, back to the obv. the banker's mark next to Elagabalas' chin is a very clear [?AK] or just [AK] now. You have to rotate the image CW 100 degrees to get the clear AK.

Here's a possible image of the Pergaean Artemis..not totally sure. Maybe some can post a better example.

Wow, that is a nice portrait. I've had a couple of Elagabalus coins but nothing this artistic.
