Did PCGS make a mistake???

    Tough to tell from the scans, but I wouldn't give the coin XF-45. EF-40 at the most and probably should only be a VF-35.

    Sure looks like it to me. But then I think ALL of the TPGs overgrade the bust coinage.

    Ah come on Midas....you can say it once that yes PCGS messed up....we won't tell anyone!!

    Charlie...yes I think they did....both overgrade and miss a cleaning!

    If that coin was cleaned (not saying it wasn't), then all the TPGs grade and slab cleaned coins like that. And yes, XF45 is definitely too high for that coin. If I was looking to buy it, I don't think I'd pay over VF money for it.

    That was one of the ones Hall "personally walked thru" the grading room with to make sure his graders were being fair and not giving dealers associated with the organization any breaks.
