Did Justinian’s ”Big Follis” have more purchasing power?

    Hi. Just a question:

Justinian’s coins around his regnal year 12-13 were indeed big in size. Gradually the size of his coins decreased afterwards.

I am wondering: Was a bigger follis (“B” in image) more worth than a normal sized follis (“E” in image)?

As you can see Justinian's (B) is bigger than Phocas', but they both have “M”.

In case one can provide the answer: Thank you. :)

I've often wondered the same thing (the same goes for Constantine IV's larger coins), but I guess it will remain a mystery.
