Did I get the silver or the nickel version?

I now have two copies of this coin, Philippines, 1970, 1 Piso. I've owned the the copy on the left for some time and I am fairly certain it is Nickel (KM202). I just purchased the one on the right, it was sold to me as silver and I paid accordingly. Is it silver (KM202a)? How to tell? I can't remove it from the 2 X 2 for inspection or I won't be able to return it if I need to. Help, I've never returned an item from ebay after 12 years, I'd love to not have to start now but....

Well jay, you are going to have to take it out of the holder. Weigh the coin. If it is silver it will come in at 26.45 grams. If it weighs less its CuNi. Good luck, Let us know the results.

I would just weigh a 2x2 and subtract that from the weight

I don't have a scale per se, but I have a balance. Putting these coins on each side, the one that is supposed to be silver weighs quite a bit more. Guess that is a mystery solved.

There's another test you can use. The nickel coin will attract a magnet, and the silver one won't. Of course, if the one you think is silver is really cu-ni, the magnet won't tell you anything.

It does look like silver to me, the one on the right. But a true weight test would be the only true way to know.
