Hi, I just read an old post about a company called Skyline coins. Many people on the forum wrote that they advertise certain coins as Premium Quality Brilliant Uncirculated, but the coins wind up being dipped or so (this was usually when they bought silver coins etc.). Before I read the post I purchased 3 "Prem Qual Brilliant Unc." Buffalo Nickels from them. They appear Unc (details, horn etc.) Here is a pic of the 1937 D. The other 2 all look pretty much similar in appearance. Im hoping someone can tell me if they are original or not. Thankyou.
Yah. I thought it was a little too shiny myself. What areas have wear? because I am not tthat great at grading buffalos.
I don't like to say negative comments about peoples coins, but this one almost looks painted. Heck throw a clasp on it and soder a chain. Would make a great necklace.
The most apparent wear is on the reverse in the buffalos belly. Not to mention, a very deteriorated die. You see that "orange peel" effect near the rims of the coin?
Here is a good reference to an uncirculated Buffalo with true mint luster (on the obverse). In case someone comes across this thread and wants to compare:
i totally feel bad for yo ite was clean... and there is some wear on it.. how much did u pay for it????
We have all been there, at least me. I like to think of it more as a lesson or education. And that's priceless. Or is it/ :0
Im definitely gooing to try and get my money back. I paid 33.00 for 3 buffalos. Thought it was kind of cheap too if they were actually uncirculated. But I didnt see the coin beforehand either. Hopefully I can get a return.
Im quite pi$$ed though. Another thing that has me worried now is that I did buy a few kennedy silver halves from them last year. Now Im wondering if those are cleaned too. Along with a few Eisenhower Clad Dollars, and the funny thing is one or two of the Eisenhowers had what looked like a small silverish fingerprint on it (maybe from the polish haha). Ill take some more pics and see if I can post them

It is possible that they are Unc. The look of wear may be the result of a weak strike and deteriorating dies. It does have the look of having been polished.
One of the others has a stronger strike, so I believe it is possible they might be Unc., but they all have that heavy shine to them.
Here is the Kennedy half and the Eisenhower. These look more legit. But the fingerprints on the Ike bother me. I bought 4 Ikes from them and 3 of them seem to have some little smudge like in this picture. Wondering if the guy that put them in the flip was eating at the same time, or is it polish or something. Sorry for the noobish questions. Thanks guys. (some of the small scratches in pics might be the 2x2s
On the Kennedy, it's really hard for me to know which marks are on the plastic and which are on the coin. The Ike however does not look uncirculated to me. I can't believe all those marks on the obverse are on the plastic. And again, the lack of luster is apparent. Not to mention the dirt or staining on it. The 1973 Ikes were in mint sets only, so who knows why yours looks the way it does. I am not trying to spam this thread with my coins, but here is a 1973-D (like yours) that I actually got at a bank with 299 other Ikes. Most of them have this luster like this. Just food for thought.
