In the oddest find I've had in a while, I found this 1968 (Silver?) Canadian Dime in a US roll of nickels - I find US dimes in nickel rolls occasionally but never a Canadian one. Although it looks silver and the Canadian dimes were in fact silver up until 1968, it also appears that some were nickel as 1968 was a transition year. Would anyone know if this one is silver? The rim looks like a silver dime and I think it fits the sound ping test, but I'm not sure if that is the best tell with Canadian dimes. Will weigh it soon, but if anyone has any more info that'd be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Doesn't look silver to me. Some 1968 dimes are silver and others aren't. Try putting it up to a magnet and if it sticks, its not silver. Even if it is, its only about a dollars worth of silver at spot today. Still not bad for finding in a roll of nickels though!
1968 had dimes in .500 silver and nickel only. An interesting fact is that many were made at the U.S. Philadelphia mint and the other half was made a royal Canadian mint. You might be thinking of 1967 where they had both .800 and .500 silver dimes.
Two different metals X 2 different mints. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces383.html https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces9201.html https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces4206.html https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces39248.html
