We probably won't know the mintage numbers until at least next year sometime, and maybe the year after that. As for whether you did well or not - that probably won't be known for the next 5 years or so.

When it comes to moderns, whether it is a $5 coin or a $50 coin is most often not known until quite a few years after it was minted. That is because value is largely based on condition rarity for these coins. And condition rarity is typically established by how many are graded by the TPG's after a period of time has passed.

Problem is, as time passes, more and more of these coins which are minted in the billions can be submitted. And the more that are graded in any particular grade usually cause the value of the coin in that grade to diminish. These numbers can change drastically 10, 20 even 30 years later.

So what may be a $30 coin today, may turn out to be a $2 coin 15 years from now.

The reason you haven't been able to locate a MS66 2009-D is because the Fed has not released them yet. Collectors have been looking for ANY 2009-D business strike dime or nickel all year long and so far not a single piece has turned up. That doesn't mean they will be rare though and the Fed is sitting on over 40 million of them. Eventually they wil be released, pices will initially go through the roof and really stupid money will be paid for them then a little later they will drop back down to a little over face value.

I would like to add my two cents worth. IMHO at this stage of non circulating business strike 2009 Nickels & Dimes, I would cling to these at that price. As Doug has pointed out, it is going to be awhile before that investment pays off, or not. IMHO they are a "RARITY" in the making.
