It looks like you have 7 bids to me. There's still 2 days left to the auction, not everyone bids right away.
Most knowledgeable bidders wait until the very end of the auction. They let the newbies fight it out in the early bidding, then at the last minute, if the price is low enough, they put their bids in. In fact in many auctions the winning bid is entered in the final one second! I don't know what price you are hoping to get, but I thing $26.00 from 7 bidders is a good start. Good luck . Hey Alan, I live right across the street from the HS but I didn't graduate from there. I'm originally from Brooklyn and only transplanted out here about 7 or 8 years ago. Bryan
for a common wheat cent grouping like that, you are going to get common bids. $3 a roll is what I would estimate. You have free shipping so that should help bring the closing price up a bit. with out any specific coins for someone to get excited over, I don't think you are going to have many waiting for the close or putting snipe bids over $35 JMHO
I agree. What you are offering is pretty common and I don't think you're going to get a lot for it. If there is a key or semi-key coin in there you might want to mention it in the add because otherwise...$35 or so probably what you will get.
Looks like you're off to a good start on bidding. Where did you find that Lincoln with the Masons symbol stamped on the obverse?
Thank you everyone for your comment and advice ....like most beginners i spent countless hours opening penny roll after penny roll ...probably a good 100 boxes worth and i found you get between 7-12 wheats per box...that is alot of boxes and time for the 15.00 bucks that my lot was stuck at for awhile lol...i have since moved on to 1 oz silver bars and rounds and what a time to "grow up" in the coin community...silver is crazy lol...much more exciting than the unrolling of hundreds of thousands of pennies ..Don't get me wrong ...i will still drool at a vdb s.....anywho....my next feat will be to try and sell my proof(clad) collection of about 350-400 pieces..all types....full nickel proof set from 1954-2011 plus about a hundred doubles...full 1999-2011 quarters and a bunch more ....wanna sell and get silver ...got all the 2011 silver there is to get from most all the countries that makes them....sorry ramblin on ...anywho thanks for all the insight on my auction and wish me luck on this and my next one.....btw...masonic penny i got in a penny roll ....
James, a bit of advice before one of the Mods swoops in here. Erase that e-bay number as they may construe it as self promotion. I understand that you are not in any way doing this but the powers that be may think otherwise.....
You could post a link to your auction in the "auctions" section of this forum though. No harm, no foul on your part my friend.
starting to look alittle better ...up to 30 bucks Guess i just needed to be patient ....thanks again all for all the comments
Looking pretty good now, I think you'll get more than the normal 3 cents per wheat and $1 per indian since you have so many early wheats.
I buy most of my coins from online autions. I will watch the item for days/weeks and then if the price is right I will place my bid within the last 15 to 30-seconds. I feel this method helps to keep the price in the area I am willing to pay.
I have been selling lots of 500 wheaties with a good mix of dates. I list them as "searched" and do fairly well with them, getting between 5+6 cents and charge $5.00 shipping (it costs a little more than that in a small flat rate box). Almost all of the bids have been in the last few minutes of the auction.
seasnake thank you for your comment ....things are starting to pick up .....i have 4 hours left and the bidding is up to 38.99....i am feeling alot better now but i don't think any price will offset the hundreds of hours sorting through box after box of pennies lol .....wish me luck !!!
