Do u think the detached leg will end up like the 3 legged? Does anyone know any statistics on the detached leg? Like how many? hehe I bought both last night on fleaBay....$15 for both!
Good for you, how you have all of them. No doubt cornered the market and can name your price. The sky is the limit, and you go control of the steering wheel. Pour it to the error collecting hobbiest, they can affort it.
Here's the Fancy "A" vaiety. There are two lines to the left of the "A". the longer one seems to jet out from the horizontal line on the "A". A cool and noticable variety.
I like some of the errors, but there seems to be WAY to many..... People are reaching to a far far away galaxy to point out errors that just seem, over-rated. The speared is cool........ It seems like a big mess to me on Ebay.
This is a single issue coin. You can get a P, D, and S.....3 coins. What fun is that. I for one will be collecting as many varieties as I can, kinda like collecting something, as opposed to just 3 varieties. These varieties are real, and YOU can find many yourself by searching rolls, bags, and mint sets. There are at least 20 varieties (errors) of the Bison. I personally have at least 15 of the various examples. Just something else to collect, hunt for, and all in real time...it's happening now!!!! Try looking for a three legged buffalos in coins you get from the bank, won't happen. People ARE finding "Speared Bisons" in coins THEY GOT from the bank this year. VERY COOL!!!!!!
What???? I don't understand your question. What I was saying is you won't find any buffalo nickels in circulation, much less a 3 legged one, but today you could go to your bank and get a roll of Bison nickels (If you are lucky) and find a variety/error coin made in 2005.
oh ye of little faith, i am not trying to toot my own horn but i have found 4 buffalo nickels in the past year. granted i can't retire off of that, but you still can find them. happy hunting, michael
ya ya ya i knew someone would post there buffalo find, my point was, did you find a 3 legged one. People Have found Multi hundred dollar varieties of the Bison THIS YEAR from rolls they got at the bank.
I understand what you are saying now, I though you meant the cut off legged bison you would not find in bank rolls.
Sorry been gone 4 awhile. Had surgery and hard drive failure. There r many of these detached leg errors, don't know how many. This might be a rarity. Hell, besides the 3 legged buff....did u know there was a 2 legged and a 5 legged...i've heard. Anyone else heard of these? TIA
Now I've seen everything. This "variety" hype is getting way out of control (as if it ever were under control). "Fancy A"!?!??!?! I guess if you can find a way to give a die defect a catchy name then you can create a new "variety" that will make a lot of people some fast cash (which they will take before the bubble bursts).
I think that just about every response has been jabbing your question. NO….I do not think these “varieties” will be worth what the original 3 legger is worth,. I think most if not all of these die defects are nothing but hype and marketing. There is a bubble, it will burst, and al lot of people will lose lots of money. For what you paid, I think you are OK, but in general I think these “varieties” (glorified die gouges, etc.) are over-rated.
I don't think it will end up as high as the 3 legged either, just thought it might become a premium coin. Thanks 2 EVERYONE
Is it really even an error. It looks like a shallow strike to me. Even my silver proof sets almost look detached.
