Nice coins ! The best example of desert patina in my entire collection would be this one : Siculo-Punic, AE16 264-241 BC Head of Tanit left Horse right and palm tree SNG Cop. 111 1.75 gr, 16 mm
Those are nice coins guys - the sand patina makes them very appealing. Unfortunately I cannot contribute a picture. My only sand-patina coin, a sestertius of Nero with Roma Seated turned out to be a fake. Sand-patina coins are very appealing, as your examples show. In this respect it is no surprise that some people have developed techniques to artificially add sand to the patina of ancient coins. This is added at the last stage of the patination process, according to what I have read. There are no limits to human ingenuity.......
