I have about 30 of these particular coins dated from 1949 and 1950 and I was wondering if they are worth holding on too. Mainly mint marks or something?

Reason I also ask is I am thinking about leaving a sandwitch bag size behind at the laundromat and let someone else find them. I really hate the design of the coins and they are taking up some space in my world coin piggy bank.

    They are 5 & 10 pfenning.

    Thanks

Highest price would be the 5p from 1949G, $12.50 in XF.

If it was me, i`d have kept a set from all years/all mints in best condition. You can always sell the rest (or all of them, if you hate it so much) online, these should get a few bids if you start the bid from $0.99.

Some are 1960s, 1990s and such also, all are worn. I already kept about 3 of the best ones.

I dont even know how I got them probably from a relative when I was a kid in the mid 80s.

They have just been my least favorite coins I have ever had.

One tiny correction, they're from Germany. :) There has been alot of talk among members on here about shedding old junk to make room for more and better pieces. My suggestion would be the same as others in the past. Find a local youth group (Boy Scouts, school class, etc.) or a local coin club that does outreach and education for youg collectors and donate them to one or several groups. Finding a way to make them valuable to a worthy cause can give them more value than they will ever have on their own. :)

Coins from 1990s in mid 80s... now that should have scored you some crazy premium :)

There is nothing special about them, its understandable you want to get rid of them. I got the same problem with ~250 world coins, a fellow i know got this problem with a 40 liter bucket full of coins.

Haha, oops, bad typo, like I said I dunno how I got them. Some relatives traveled and brought me coins all the time, but some are from the 1990s and "those" I really dont know where I got them from. I dont buy world coins by the pound, lol.

And blsmothermon , thats why I figured I would leave them laying around somewhere, let someone grab them and maybe it can lead to a new collector. I dont attend coin club meetings, would like too but I work at night so its hard to attempt.

Though I collect EVERYTHING in the world, I too have had some absolute s**t I didn't want. I personally like the laundromat idea. I dropped a bunch around a playground. I hope some kids will find them and get fascinated. Of course, here in 2010, you must be careful of leaving things anywhere, some people are crazy paranoid.

Put them in the "Take a pfennig/ Leave a pfennig" tray at the convenience stores:D

HAHA, I laughed good at that, its a cool idea though. Rather have a zincoln then these ugly things. :p

@jays-dad I thought about that too or even leaving some laying around at mcdonolds or something like that.

Doubt a waiter would like it as a tip lol.

Sprinkle them in local parks and fields to excite the
    metal detector people.

On your next trip here (to Germany), take your 5 Pf coin to any Bundesbank branch office and get 3 ct for it. This way you would even make a profit: It is worth roughly 2.55 cent in today's money, but the total would be rounded. :D

In terms of numismatic value, a 1967 G piece would be best. Due to the low mintage, even a VF (ss) coin is about 25 euro. But your coin does not quite look like a VF piece ...
