You can find used copies of the Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins for sale on ebay really cheap. Consider beginning with a catalog that covers 1901 to present. Unfortunately , once you have a Krause catalog you will be hooked on World coin collecting for good . BTW, I began collecting World coins after purchasing an old Krause catalog. It cost me $2 or $3 at an ANA library sale. The book covered the 200 years from 1800 -2000. Here is a photo depicting the 2013 catalog covering 1901-2000. I purchased it (used) from a coin show dealer for something like $20.
Yes this is a coin from Denmark, made during the German occupanzy. They are quite common, but when found in grade "0" (mint state) some of them can be rather valueable. You can search for danish coin values and find the worth of your coins there
Hello Crjensen4 from Denmark. I would like to learn about "grade 0". Can you direct me to more information on this grading scale?
I'm guessing it's a reference to Scandinavian grading ...? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coin_grading#European_grading_system It appears to be a 3 point grading scale and counting down or backwards. I thought the 5 point one was lacking.
Sure - you can find a table of comparison here: http://www.danishcoinvalues.com/index.php/world-coin-grades.html Essentially "0" is the perfect state of coin. There is no ms 60 to ms 70 in the Danish System, nor in the Scandinavian - however "0" can vary a bit in quality (much like a ms69 vs ms70) - essentially two perfect coins - but there is a little something that sets them apart
The highest grade is "0" for the most part. The next is "01", then "1+", "1", "1-"and then "2" and "3". Two and three you hardly ever hear of, as the coins then are very very poor
