POST WHATEVER'S REVELANT PEEPS!
Sorry to tell you, but they are both Louis VII. On the right is a denier from Mantes early reign (Duplessy 139) and on the left a denier parisis 4e type (Duplessy 148).
...thank you for your response and IDing...i really didn't want 2, but ...lQQks like i got'em..i was hoping it was both L6 & 7...oh well..back to the hunt... Louie's 1 thru 6 comin' up! thanks again @seth77 !
...On the other hand, if you ever felt like negotiating over the Mantes one, I'd be in the market....
...Well, why not. For anyone tuning in late, people have been posting a Lot of Capetians lately. These didn't fit very neatly in any of the other threads, so here goes. (...This is the last Capetian king in my direct line of descent. --Yes, that's mostly why I stop here. Tacky as get-out; it registers. But it also coincides with where my interest in the period more generally starts to lose some speed.) Philippe III (son of Louis IX, father of Philippe IV), 1270-1285. Gros tournois: (Duplessy, Royales 202A, variant with not one but two 'periods,' to either side of the reverse 'S'.) And a 'toulousain;' sort of a heavy denier, maybe bouncing off of transitional Italian denominations, between the original grosso and denaros. From, yep, Toulouse; 'TO [/] L'A [/] CI [/] VI,' between small fleurs de lis, on the reverse. Duplessy 203.
