In the lot that I won and I'm still checking and attributing, there is this one with the flip showing that the previous owner bought it from Ken Dorney, probably some time ago. Ken not only publishes the coins he has currently for sale; he also publishes all the coins he has sold in the past. That's really amazing and he is the only one I've seen who does this, so I was able to find the coin, including a nice picture. Thank you so much Ken, for your great and professional work. Apollonis was an ancient city of the Lydian kingdom located in northern Lydia, on the Cissus, a tributary of the Hyllus, near modern-day Palamut Kalesi, south of Apollonia in Mysia. It was named after the queen Apollonis, the mother of Eumenes II and Attalus II of Pergamum. That is a standard function on Vcoins. Not every dealer uses it; but I bet most do. After your search in a store, there is a middle box on the left called PRICE BETWEEN and right underneath that is the "search sold items"...tick the box and get the results.
Thank you so much @Victor_Clark for the info about the standard feature at Vcoins. It's really wonderful to have it.
Nice addition! Your references include Dane Kurth's (Helvetica) 2010 book Demos, The Personification of the People, which I have yet to take a look at but would like to. There's another volume I need to look at -- sounds like similar material -- Katharina Martin's 2013 Demos, Boule, Gerousia: Personifikationen städtischer Institutionen auf kaiserzeitlichen Münzen aus Kleinasien. These pseudo-autonomous bronzes from Lydia and Phrygia are interesting, with their various personifications of "the people" and local governmental bodies depicted. I don't know if I have any Demos types, but a few Senate and Gerousia (a local governing body similar to a Senate, I think?) coins from the same region and general period. Notice that the legends for these three all identify the figure on the obverse. Most recent addition, a Gerousia AE23: Phrygia, Hierapolis AE (6.63g, 23mm, 7h). Obv: ΓƐΡΟVϹΙΑ.
