Nice coin. It seems sestertii of these are easier to find nice than asses so this is a real keeper. Mine is not as nice and a dupondius.

For reasons I do not understand, asses of this period are more often round while sestertii (below) have flattened sides.

Nice example of a scarce denomination.

A semis of TD must be very rare, and I don't think I have ever seen an As of his for sale.

Severus Alexander find me at NumisForums

That's a spectacular as, Ro! I love 3rd century middle bronzes, although I only pursue Sev Alex in any serious way. Here's my Decius dupondius:

Very nice coin @ro1974 . People dont seem to appreciate the smaller bronzes of the period, though they are scarce to rare.

Yes, and they really like the double sestertii issued by Decius which is why the only one I could afford is not all that pretty. Mine is 32.5g which is light for these (they vary a lot). CNG sold one of the same type that was 44g.

My single "double", like Doug's, is on the light side at 37.03 gr. A dear friend, from whom I got mine, had around 10 of them, with weights from over 55 gr. down to lighter ones than mine. 2016.014.jpg
