Dealing with Cash App

I saw a Facebook post where someone was selling his grandfather’s fairly large coin collection for $700. It seemed like a lot of cool stuff and looked like fun. Nothing rare, but a fun collection to sort out. I want to buy it but he wanted to do it through CashApp, which we don’t have. We would do it with PayPal which give us insurance of the purchase, but he said he has bd experiences with PayPal. My wife and my daughter were seeing a red flag buying a collection from someone out of state through Cash App we don’t know. It not personal at all, but we don’t know this dude, who seemed to be ok when we did a video chat.

    any thoughts?

I would avoid it. Go with your gut, especially for a hefty purchase.

It could be perfectly innocent. Young people especially prefer cashApp, but I would still not do it.

I'd be uneasy if someone were pushing me to use a payment method I'm not used to. Even though CashApp is a high-profile service, I wouldn't know how to watch out for red flags.

But I can also see someone being reluctant to use PayPal for the same reasons.

Yeah, I'd file this one as "kind of a shame, but pass".

I’ve never heard of CashApp. Still it seems like he was trying to push you in that direction. That’s a big red flag so best to avoid. You don’t want to get taken for $700 and have nothing to show for it.
