Hi All, I just wanted to share a positive experience with Akropolis Ancient Coins. Peter was great to deal with. He sent several emails concerning the shipping method, links to tracking, and follow up after the sale and after delivery. The coin arrived and was much better in hand than in the photo. I really appreciated the service offered and I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you have had a similarly positive experience with a dealer recently please post it here.
Here are 3 Dealers which come to mind - in no particular order: CNG: I have seamless dealings with them. You bid, win or lose, get an auction notification, invoice, pay, get emailed confirmation of shipping, it then arrives. I think their descriptions are sometimes underdone and often exclude the legends which creates more work when the coins arrive, but that is no concern to me - as I enjoy attributing and describing the coins myself. FORVM: Just as seamless as CNG with the added benefit that processing and shipping is faster than anyone else I have ever bought from. The description of their coins as well as their attributions are highly detailed. Charles Davis: I have had exceptionally positive dealings with Charles, who supplies numismatic literature. He has a website but he sells on vcoins and sometimes on eBay. He has found and supplied me with references I could not find elsewhere and always at a very reasonable price. Walter Holt (Old Money): Walter is on VCoins. He recently helped me source an SNG volume I had been searching for without any success. He is also based in Australia and being the same time zone is often an overlooked benefit. Peter
