So I got some rolls of 2019Ds at a 711 up in Big Bear Lake, and I had just been browsing around ebay and people are selling them one at a time and all that and so when I got 4 rolls of brand spankin new 2019 pennies I was stoked! Surely these must be some of the first out there right? So what do I see, DDD and DDD and MORE DDD. Ok so I understand that billions are printed and many stacked and stored till the first billion are printed before they start getting destributed. Much like the movie industry, production of the 2019 coin probably started in 2018 so that they can be distributed "on time". But I gotta say, that they are getting damn good at DDD. They lines are cleaner and sharper, they are even throughtout the coin, all in the same direction and a good deal raised off the feild of the coin. So how is this diffrent from a "real" double die? Or is it doulbe die? I mean even the VDB got it's share of doubling!! Sorry about the multiple shots of the same part, but it's difficult to get clear shots with the shine on these new pennies.
You still really don't know? DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling has nothing to do with a true Doubled Die Variety.. It is considered worthless doubling! A Doubled Die is a variety.. And that is actually worth something because it is an actual error!
This is what a Doubled Die is - https://www.doubleddie.com/58222.html This is worthless doubling - https://www.doubleddie.com/144801.html So once again.. A worn Die and a Doubled Die are 2 different issues!
Die deterioration doubling is created as the die wears and the edges of the cavity in the die wear at the edges so that a coin struck from these dies will show a widening at the base of the numbers and legends that corresponds to the wear on the die. Now single squeeze hubbing...I have no idea...
