Is this a Double Die Obverse? The line around George and then the bottom of the A and C and then the T and Y really stick out. Then another thing I noted in blue on the reverse, this area is large and heaped up Noticeably more than standard New York quarter. It is definitely larger and is not as defined, this an error, if so what? could this cause the obverse? the it caused the dies not to line up?
These quarters are synonymous with the Philly mint. Machine doubling, die cracks, chips, die deterioration, etc.... Very common. Problem after problem and very poor quality control IMO. But still interesting to look for and find.
The correct term is Doubled Die, not Double.. Big difference! Quote - "Note that the proper terminology for this occurrence includes the letter 'd' at the end of the first word, hence "doubled die". The term "double die" without the first word ending in 'd' is not proper numismatic terminology." closed quote I want to share this webpage with you - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubled_die
