If you have an account with Heritage, I would also suggest checking out the auctions they had for the currency that was found ca. 1980, all was in miserable shape but was graded by PCGS and is pedigreed. The lowest price fragments when for about $350 or so, and the prices went on up from there.
This might give you a starting place. from Wikipedia. "In November 1973, The Oregon Journal, based in Portland, began publishing the first public listings of the serial numbers with permission from the FBI and offered $1,000 to the first person who could claim to have found a single one of the $20 bills" Jim
Hello I am justrena and there is a very interesting website with quite a bit of info, including utube video at www.legendofdbcooper.com...
Check here starting on page 3. It is a PDF file. http://foia.fbi.gov/cooper_d_b/cooper_d_b_part05.pdf Hope this helps, Danny
If I want information from the FBI, I would ask my local congressman's office to obtain it for me. You have a greater chance of getting it , and less chance of them wondering why you want it. Jim
There was an article about these bills and the boy (Brian Ingram), now a man, that found them. I believe it was the July/2008 issue of COINAGE magazine. It was a very interesting article. I dont think they provided any of the serial numbers though. Well, except for the single bill that was pictured in the article. Series 1963A $20 Dollar Federal Reserve Note Serial# C13871652A. I hope this helps a little.
