My question is what is more nature Photo making with a day lamp in the night Go photo making in the day with no lamp old camera i dont have a profesion photo stand up. only my camera and my coin What for back ground do you use, making a coin, is it black of white i am getting confused thanks
i think you lamp illuminated picture looks much better, that's a nice pic ro! sometimes when i take pics in full daylight the coin looks nicer, sometimes it looks worse...kind of depends on the coin. i try and click some pic in both situation.
I tend to prefer natural light, but in this case night lamp works best. Perhaps natural light was too direct.
Check out Doug's website. That's what I try to do. I have no clue how to use photo editing software though and can never get my black backgrounds to match.
oke Great, i have all the time wrong making picture lol a picture makes the coin, and i like how you see the coin in real with your eyes. thats whye i though i do it day light. Now i see night is beter thanks thanks
The lamp gives you the ability to change to shadows/glare by moving the light source; whereas, you would need to keep repositioning the coin to get different results with sunlight.
The big problem with natural light is that t changes every hour and every day. If you get a good photo, it is nice to be able to repeat the success any time you wish. Black is always the same. If you have almost black or dark gray you can have a mismatch. You fix this by allowing no light to hit the absolutely black background. I have regularly shown how I do this but whatever works for you is fine. It is a lot harder to do this when shooting dark coins so learning to use postprocessing software is a good thing. http://www.forumancientcoins.com/dougsmith/coinphoto2011ez3.html
here's a coin i've been working on, a recently posted faustina sestertius. sellers pic... edited in gimp.... my pic, indoors, reverse (or very similar pic...i look many, got mixed up) unedited unedited coping. .. edited full pic (gimp)... coin taken in full daylight (noonish).... gimp edit... they all look like the coin, which looks more like it depend on where i take the coin. i'm not sure which one to go with.
light on the coin is good, Indeed, Photo 2, i did it not photograve from above,i did it stand up in a coin standaard.
