Date error

    Hey I'm new to this but I found a penny dated 1916 yet it's not a wheat back... any help will be appreciated...

    Check the edge of the coin. Does it look like 2 coins were split and sanded and glued together ?

    From my understanding the memorial building wasn't minted until 1959 first year, so it would be impossible for it to be on the reverse of a 1916.
    Imo someone had too much time on their hands. Welcome to CT

    Not a 1916 cent, The second 1 in date is way to long. I think you have a 1976-D cent that has been modified for whatever reason.

    I'm thinking more of an altered date.. 1976 altered to a 1916
