I would say...not at all! Although I never did own one myself. Im a firm believer in capsuling my best coins not worthy of 3rd party grading. If I use the mylar flips, I change about every year. Im not a big fan of pvc buildup and I try to protect all my proofs. Just buy a few trapper keepers, pages, flaps, and capsules. When you buy coins from dealers at shows or shops do they store them in Dansco's?
I think they are safe...but you have to be careful with them. The plastic slides that cover the coins can rub the coins when you move them.
The dealers store them in 2x2s because they dont want to spend 23$ on an album and they want to sell it the cheapest way possible
They are fine for most any coin. IMO, you might err on the side of caution by leaving out extreme high grades or rarities. I have all my coins in them, and have had no issues. Out of an abundance of caution, I clean mine really well before using them. Clean and air dry the slides in mild soap and water. Remove as much loose dust as possible from the pages. They are archival materials, but some say that the left over dust and such from manufacture can leave marks on your coins, especially proofs, if left long term on the coin itself. So I try to get the little particles out right away. If you push the coin in the page just so, it can be in a sweet spot where the slides don't touch it. I try to only move the front slide, and push the coin in so it reaches the rear slide. I think you will get as many opinions as there are members here on albums, which to use, and how to use them. My .02 Worth what you paid!
