    Hi All,
I've been using the Blue Whitman fold albums to hold my coins for a few years, and now have decided its time to move up.

I'm looking at two options: Dansco or Littleton albums. Do you guys have a preference? Which is better made, more practical, safer, nicer, better priced, etc.?

    Thanks for your opinions...

    Hi dj,

I use several brands of albums and folders.
My favorite is the old type Whitman albums with the sliding Mylar windows that allow you to see both sides of the coins.
Of the newer types, I like the Danscos the best. I don't really have a reason, other than it's just a personal preferance.
Just a tip about albums with sliding windows; always push your coins away from the window before you slide it out. This way it doesn't rub your coins.

I really like the Intercept Shield albums. They're a bit more expensive, but if you're protecting valuable, BU+ or rare coins, then their new protection technology is worth it IMHO.

Well I have used and sold most brands of albums. I personally like the ones from Intercept. They provide a little extra protection. But no matter what album you purchase, follow Jody's advice about the windows. Nothing worse than rub marks on what used to be a nice BU coin

I just got into coin collecting, and so I don't have a lot of experience or numismatic wisdom, but I looked into this and decided that I liked the Air-Tite albums the best, for two reasons: I can keep my coins in Air-Tite holders, and the albums give me maybe more flexibility of coin patterns because of the different page configurations available.

My favorite source for albums and holders is Mitchell's Collectibles. Great service and unbelievable prices.

I also like Airtiteholders.com. Their holders are more expensive than Mitchell's, but they have a lot more album page configurations available. For instance, most web sites that sell the albums only sell the A-size pages (cents and dimes) in the 9-hole configuration. ATH sells 5-, 7-, 8-, and 9-hole pages, as well as pages with two, three, and even four different sizes. They also sell displays other than albums: boxes, stands, frames, coin chests, and more. Get their catalog !

I use Dansco, they suit my needs and for the price, I think they are nicer than Whitman.

Thanks for all of your replies and opinions.

Honestly, I'm more confused than ever, but I think I'm, just going to shop around for a good price than make a a purchase.

    Hi dj,

You might just want to buy a few different brands, and see which one you like the best.
As you can see by all the different responces, it's just a matter of personal preferance.

Don't want to start a new thread, so I have a question to go along with this topic...

I've read that the blue chemicals from the Whitman folders are bad for your coins. Does anyone know if this is the same for the Whitman albums?

    Thanks!

I have had coins in both folders and albums for years.
I can't see where they look any diferently than they did when I put them in there.
Of course, I keep all my coins in a cool, dry place, and the ones that are in fire-proof safes also have silica gel packets placed inside.
In my opinion, keeping humidity to a minimum is the key to preventing unattractive toning.
