Hi all, I bought a Dansco for my Barber dimes a few weeks ago. I put what coins I have in the album last week. I got this album at a show. The pages where the slits for the slides are were separating, almost the whole top layer started to peel off, I glued it back down though. Don't buy your album at shows unless you inspect the pages and the entire album, one only can guess where this album was stored and how old it is. Do yourself a favor and buy new. I did have trouble getting the coins in, it seems like the pages are very hard a brittle, no give. I have used Dansco before and did not have this problem. The Dimes do look great in the pages though. Nothing like a set of circ's in an album, character......... Tony
Sounds like you got a used/damaged album. Did you buy it from a dealer? You can probably still return it, if you remember the source.
Did you get this at the Parsippany show? If so, I know that a lot of the dealers there were also setting up at flea markets in the area. The albums may have been exposed to multiple weather conditions that caused that to happen.
Glad to hear it, Tony. How's the set coming along? Got the keys yet? How many do you lack? What conditions are you collecting?
Hi guys, I don't think the album was used, just not stored properly. I'll get by with it now though. From now on I buy new. Jody, I have about 28 so far, I started with the P's and now have to work on the other mm's. I am trying to stick to Fine or better, a few are in G cause of the price. If I go from G for the keys and semi keys and Fine for the rest I'll be satisfied, then I can upgrade at my leisure, if I want to. I am not against buying a VG if the coin is nice with no problems. I was hoping to get to the Westchester show this weekend but I am not working too much due to the weather so I'll wait till the Parsippany NJ show in Feb to do more buying. Love those shows, the only problem is with all the same dealers all the time, you get alot of the same stuff month after month. Regards Tony
