What do you guys think about preserving a Lincoln set in a album? I've been thinking of breaking some of my slabs out and just putting the whole collection into a nice album. I've got a 14-d ef , 24-d au , 09-s vf , & 31-s ms-63 all ANACS graded and the rest vf - unc. I am missing the big keys at the moment. I'm just thinking of my son when he gets them latter in life, thanks, Pat

Taking coins out of the slab of the caliber your refering to is like driving a new car off the dealers lot - you lose $2000 the first 100 feet.

If your son is a collector, discuss with him. If he is not a collector, he'll be in a much better position to deal with the coins if they're still slabbed.

I agree I would keep them in the slabs. I am sure they would all look nice in an album, but I think those dates would be best in holders.

I would keep the key dates slabbed.

My lincoln dansco is complete except for the 1909-S VBD and the 1914-D. I bought replicas on ebay to fill the slots!! Man 0 man they look good in ms condition.

Yea, I hear ya. At least if he decides to sell them he will get a fair price. You know, the only reason I buy slab coins is because at least I know they're not counterfit. Do you agree?

Have your cake and eat it too!

Use Dansco for all but the slabbed coins. Get a plastic sheet used for baseball cards, cut it down to 4 slots, clear tape it to the album cover and insert the slabbed coins.

I have done this to a few sets, and it works for me!

Or you could just buy the pages that fit slabs
