Wouldnt it be cool if their was a website or a forum dedicated solely to the 7070? Mine is the pride of my collection and the thing I actively work on. I wish there was a good way to put it online. Do mant people here have one? As a teaser, here are my halves:
Nice coins! I know there are a pretty good number of people on here with type sets. I was going to start mine with an 1854 large cent, lol but you can check the USPS Strikes Again thread :headbang:, not the best start for my type set. This btw was the only full type set with pics I ever found on the internet, I'm sure there many others out there though My Dansco 7070 Type Set
I saw that, and I was thinking how nice of a coin and how well it would fit into my set. I have never lost anything in the mail yet (pounding on wood) but it sure would not make me happy to start with a coin like that!
Very nice coins, and pretty much all in grades that I want for my type set. I looked at that linked Dansco 7070 Type Set. It's the first time I've had a chance to see what comprises their "definition" of a type set is. I personally feel that their type set is not complete BUT that's what's nice about a type set. You can set your own definition about what "complete" means.
Be real neat if the guy had a chain cent in his type set... I'm just trying to think of what all he would be missing
Here is the closest set to being finished in the registry... One would think that this guy would sell out a little more cash on a higher graded gaudens! LOL And he is one coin away from finishing, ANY COMMEMORATIVE FROM 1983! WHAT IS HE WAITING FOR! http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/coins/SetListing.aspx?PeopleSetID=70895
You will note that his set is in the Basic Type Set category. No coins from the 1790's. Mine is in the fuller 1792-1964 type set category. If he puts his into the same category as mine, all of a sudden he has lots of holes. For instance, the category I'm in requires THREE St. Gaudins: High Relief, Without Motto and With Motto. No, I don't have the High Relief. But on the other hand what he's got are gorgeous and powerful coins. And for the moment I'm sure he's quite satisfied. And I repeat, you can set your own definition about what "complete" mean. That's what's nice about a type set.
Yes, that is rather nice...Some people can fill holes rather quickly, but you have to have the money...His coins are in amazing shape, MS62's, MS65's, PF64 Cameos...NGC Graded with the star designation...He has some nice ones, that is for sure...Now if he was in your category, he would probably have that close to done as well, but what he lacks in quantity, he makes up for in quality Good luck to you on your type set
Some nice type sets! I started a 70-70 set this year, but got rather frustrated with how limited and restricting the set was. So, I started my own and set my own goals whereas I'm compiling a type set of NGC graded toners in as high a grade as possible and as complete as my means will allow for. It's a fun challenge. I think thats key...make it fun and rewarding for yourself. Guy~
Currently my NGC Registry type set (US Type Set 1792-1964) has dropped down a bit. I'm 18th now, but I have been as high as 13th. I should move up after the Baltimore show June 12. I'll definitely get one coin and with luck a second.
Well you know I wanna see pics... When you get back form the show, start a new thread (assuming you already will) Thanks!
