I have been looking to buy a Dansco 7070 album for a while now, but I just can't find a good one for the right price. On eBay these seem to be selling in the $40-$50 range for a used version, and a sealed one selling for $120. Upon looking around I noticed that there is a similar album made by Intercept Shield which is cheaper and includes more pages. But, the Intercept Shield has some holes that are not big enough for the coin from what I have heard. I don't mind having a coin fit a little tight, I just want to make sure that there is no other negatives about the Intercept Shield. Please let me know what you think in the comments. I am leaning towards the Intercept Shield, but I want to make sure I am making the right decision. Thanks for the look!
I am a big fan of the Dansco 7070...but I will admit that I have never owned an Intercept Shield album. However, I have heard some very positive things. Unfortunately, based on what I have read online is there has been a rumor for over a year that Dansco was going to make an updated 7070...which is why there haven't been any available for some time. But, who knows when that will be.
It's my understanding that the IS albums offer better protection. That could be important if you plan to have high dollar MS or proof coins in the album. I like the Dansco for circulated coins. I learned the hard way about what albums can do to MS and proof coins. With either type of album, proper storage of the album itself, is important.
