I got these today. They supposedly are trial coins made in 2002 to see what a Danish euro would look like. It kind of sounds like it was just a fantasy coin. They are pretty if nothing else. There were maybe five or six other denominations that I got outbid on. Anyone know more about these? What do you think?
Not coins, of course but designed and issued by some British (!) company. Even these days some dealers try and make money fast by selling sets with "test" or "pattern" pieces, shortly before the actual euro coin sets are issued. We just had the same thing with Latvia ... An actual euro coin would have the word EURO and a map on the reverse, and properly oriented stars on the obverse. But had a third party manufacturer such as the INA used the € sign or the word "euro", they would have been in trouble. Christian
