For Carr pieces, there isn't a rarity on 69 vs. 70 at ANACS. They seem to be doing a lot of 70s to keep up with ICG. Anything grading 68 has problems.
I have been burned TWICE by a coin graded by ICG. Had one regraded and re-slabbed by NGC and the other by PCGS both came back lower the one by PCGS by 2 grades.
Oh wow...I had no idea they sold for that much. I'll be honest, I like them. I think it would be a neat addition to a Peace Dollar collection because they did mint 1964-D coins. But...$550, that's just nuts.
Gluggo (@Glen Smith ) nice to see you here! Yes this thread was about the latest 1964 Peace Dollar from Dan. The original poster bought raw at issue price and got a 70 from Anacs.
Ohhhh good yes Glad he got a 70. From what I have seen a 70 from one of Dans coins is getting to be a common occurrence. I have never sent any of his coins in for grading but have seen pictures of many who had good amounts of coins come back as 70s. Thank you for the nice welcome. I came here once seeking photography tips and was reading Rays post and others. Quite informative information. Just getting use to my way around the different buttons. Have a great night.
Why? It's got surfaces. On the other hand, if you're really arguing that "grades" should be irrelevant for any non-circulating, direct-to-collectors issue, maybe we're on the same page.
