    Hello everyone.

I am new to this forum and to numismatics its self so I am not well educated on damaged coin values. I got a damaged 1853 O seated liberty half dime without arrows cheap at a coin store, and I wanted to know its value. Thanks to all in advance.

Because this coin is very obviously damaged, it is worth far less than it would be without. Typically, a coin which is slightly damaged would be netted down a grade, and priced based on that grade adjustment. For more serious problems, such as exhibited by this piece, that rule of thumb does not apply, and arriving at a fair value is done on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that this is not an offer but, if I were interested in this coin, I'd probably drop it a full 2 grgades.

I don't think you'll get a consensus. In the end it's only worth what someone would pay for it.

Thanks everyone for your help on this subject. I have been to several numismatic forums and this one is the best so far. I got multiple helpful answers quickly.
