Is he the same Charles D Moore mentioned here, http://canadiancoinnews.com/canadia...great-loss-with-death-of-charles-chuck-moore/ ? How do you keep such old coins in proof or mint state through the years ? Were they handled carefully (if at all) like nowadays to keep the proof/mint state ? Also did NGC just slabbed the coins before the start of the auction ? How do you find all these best condition coins prior to Internet age ? Perhaps the collection was recently assembled ? Thats all the questions for now hope i am not asking the obvious.
That's right. I've personally seen MS coins that are ~200 years old, and pictures of even older ones.
Indeed choice coins. These do come out, less common in MS-66/7. Some may have been generously graded yet overall a highly appealing assembly.
Thank you Zohar444. I am surprised these were kept in envelopes. I would have like to do that instead of having the coins in slabs.
Holy Cow!!! I need to sell my IRA, tax hit and all. I'd seen a couple in my normal perusals but looking at them in aggregate. I just fell out of my chair.
