    Of course it's worth money!
You won't be retiring on it, though.
It's worth about $6.25 at today's silver price.

Interesting question @rickmp that is the silver value, but would you put the same price on a Franklin, Walker, Barber, Seated...etc. Where does collector value come in for common coins?

I might put the same value on any of those you list. I would research before giving my opinion, though, just as I did when I gave my opinion on the coin posted.
IMO, the grade of the OPs pictured coin is so low as to have no collector value.
Your opinion might differ from mine, and that's fine with me.

Of course then, there are collectors and collectors. I have no doubt you are more discerning than me (I'm not being sarcastic). Seems like a discussion going on elsewhere about a Bust half that is subject to the real/fake question and some people saying it is just butt ugly, but it is a Bustie, and many people would like to have one regardless of condition.

I know what some people think of the "Red Book"[I have an opinion about it too] but in it they list the Walking Liberty Half all the way down to the G-4 grade. Whereas the Franklin Half is only listed down to the VF grade. IMO the older an coin "Issue" is, the harder it is to find. Some collect WLH under an XF grade just for silver content.
Others can afford such a thing as that, but still like to collect just as much.
These older worn out coins are getting sent to the smelters every day. And with time will be even harder to find.

It doesn't, collector value comes in for uncommon coins. :)

What is common for one person is uncommon for others. Ever try showing your "prized" coins to a non-collector?

Yeah, but for the non-collector there is no "collector value" whether the coins are common or not.

Believe it or not, many "non-collectors" actually enjoy having things (all sorts of things) they believe to be interesting.

That's probably because there are plenty of heavily-worn Walkers, but you'll rarely see a Franklin worn below VF.

A lot of photo-grade references don't show lower grades for more modern issues.

Seems like there is a current thread about "Show your well worn Bust Halves" or something like that
