Nice I like it too , nice shipwreck coin , did they find it already engraved ? rzage:smile:hatch::hammer:
I have no idea , you asked , I just guessed what you paid for it , is it silver . Polish it up real purty like , tell them it was you're great grandfathers' , when they ask about the copy stamp , just say that ain't no copy stamp , that's just how this coin wore , you could start the bidding at $25,000 . rzage:thumb::whistle:
Honestly, I was excited too, I saw it had no bids with four hours left..but then I saw "Copy" so I only bid .05 cents..lol...Still, not a bad replica IMO. I wonder what the real thing goes for if it was engraved like this. stainless
(I wonder what the real thing goes for if it was engraved like this.) Now you would be talking about historical value. Who knows! Lou
Actually they didn't grade it, they just authenicated it as a "genuine COPY", which must be an oxymoron. Nice buy Stainless. Too bad it didn't say " Go Lee! " or "Confederates Rule", would be worth twice what Stainless paid. Jim
Here is a place that sells them for $40 -http://www.shipwreckstore.com/product.asp?pn=301658&bhcd2=1225675693. Still trying to find the real deal.
I remember reading about a Double Eagle that saved of a Confederate soldier by stopping a bullet , he had it engraved and carried it as his good luck charm , they found it on him when they recovered the wreckage of the Confederate Sub , CSS Hunley . rzage
