I do not know if this the correct forum for this question. But, what is current spot on silver and how is melt price of a pre 64 roosevelt roll determined?
World markets are all closed for the weekend....sunday afternoon the asian market will open so a live spot price will be available then. Currently it's $6.77, according to kitco.com.
From 1873-64 the ASW (actual silver weight) of U.S. dimes was .07234 troy ounces of pure silver. With 50 coins to a roll, that makes 3.617 ounces per roll, or just under $24.50 at the Friday close. You can expect to receive 10% or so less, or pay 10% or so more, than the spot silver rate when selling to or buying from a jeweler, coin shop, or other dealer in bullion.
