Just curious to know what the time frames for economy for PCGS and NGC are. I see on the web that NGC is 23 days is that what you all are seeing? PCGS has always been a mystery to me what are people seeing out of them? Thank you in advance.
I did a PCGS express order last month. Took them 3 weeks. Cal Edit: Sorry, did not notice at first that you were asking about economy.
PCGS has been grading a lot of coins for me the last several months. Economy has been taking 45 to 60 days but I'm not dealing directly with PCGS. Great Collections has been dropping my coins off at PCGS and picking them up. They are located close to each other. Once GC has the coins back they set them up for the next auction. If I were dealing direct with PCGS, I would expect 45 to 60 days for grading and add another 10 to 12 days in shipping time. Keep in mind that grading time may very based on their work load. If there is a major show going on, that could slow them down 5 or 10 days. Also, keep in mind that weekends and holidays are not work days. That would add more days the coins are out of your hands. Express is faster but the grading cost are double.
Both NGC & PCGS post their current turnaround times. PCGS Economy is currently posted as 55 business days (11-12 weeks) for both US and World. I've found them to be closer to 4-6 weeks. You can speed up their grading if you use the online submission form and everything is pre-entered into their system. Anything that needs a PCGS coin # created, put it on an invoice that you don't care how long it takes. NGC Economy is currently posted as 20 business days for US and 123 days for World. My recent World Economy took almost 6 months. They have just reduced the turnaround time for practically all tiers except World Economy.
