Hello. Can anyone point me to a resource on the web that lists which coins are currently legal tender in Mexico. I'll be visiting the country shortly in a few months, and I have lots of Mexican coins that came in the several mulit-pound world coin lots I have bought on ebay that I'd love to take with me and use if they are legal. Thanks, Aimee
Hi Aimee try this it might be of help http://www.banxico.org.mx/ De Orc :kewl: Have a great trip :hail: PS yep it even has pics of the coins, looks like coins from 1991 onwards are LT
De Orc is correct that anything 1991 and later is LT (my wife is from Mexico) but it is unlikely that you will find any merchants that will accept or dispense coins with a FV of less than 50 centavos (1, 5, 10, or 20 centavos) since they have so little value. The 50 centavo is brass and is a dodecagon (12-sided) and the 1, 2, and 5 peso coins are bimetallic with a central brass portion surreounded by a stainless steel outer ring. The 10 peso coin is bi-metallic as well but the brass ring is on the outside and the center is Cu-Ni. Have a good trip!
Apart from the central bank's web site (above) this one could be interesting too: http://www.cmm.gob.mx/cmm/ That is the Mexican Mint's site, in Spanish and English. Christian
