I am looking for a link to any site that has an updated list of current error varietys. I ran accross one the other day and did not bookmark it and now I cant find it. Help!
It is a long way from complete---but for varieties this is the best online list I guess. http://www.conecaonline.org/variety_listings.html Speedy
When trying to find links for numismatic information - about the easiest place to look is right here on Coin Talk - just go to the Numismatic Resources section. For example - Varieties and Errors
1,855 Varieties! That's nothing as there are a lot more not on their list and literally hundreds found each month or less!
Ok I am really starting too get educated here at this site. While I was stumbling around and perusing some threads/topics. I am always checking out links, and photos. While I was at one site I found this site by accident and I will probably use it as a barometer for error coin searches. these are recognized varieties and grade and price. Very cool dd: With so many varieties and new ones coming in every day it is too much to keep up with. But here is a link to the most recognized varieties and the prices. http://www.pcgs.com/prices/ ya kinda gotta do your own searches by coin and year but the rest is all right there.
One small problem, the prices you find listed on the PCGS pages are not accurate, not even close. As a general rule they are anywhere from 25% to 100% too high.
On the Heritage auction site, you can look up actual realized prices that people have paid for hundreds of thousands of coins - and regristration is free.
Bryan, Coppercoins does have more then just cents it has other varieties also like nickels, dimes quarters and so on just go to the forums and look up other coins. Bruce.
thanks bruce, i didn't know that they had varieties on other coins. oh, by the way, i didn't get to coin roll hunt today. we didn't have enough time to get to the bank to get a box of cents. i was looking forward to looking for errors, varieties and oldies. oh well, maybe sometime else. can you buy rolls of coins at gas stations and grocey stores in small amounts? i was just wondering if stores would sell you a couple rolls of what ever you ask for. will they sell them or say they need them for customer purchases?:goofer:
I get 10 rolls of nickels each week from my grocey store with no problem just depends on the store and how long you have been shopping there.
Not sure how many rolls they have however they always have the 10 rolls I ask for, I would ask for more but don't won't to ruin a good thing the 10 rolls of nickels I got yesterday had 7 keepers earliest was 1949 to 1956. In my nickel searching I only keep pre 1960 and all extra fine or better 1982 and 83 and the 2004 to 2005 I search for varieties also look at all 1990-d minted nickels for the missing FG.
I keep all 1938-1979. My reason being that nickels from the 50s, 60s and especially 70s are getting harder to get. I may be able to sell rolls of "later" dates 60s-70s to those folks trying to complete "Pocket Change" folders. I don't think anybody collects the 80s-90s series as they are so flat and ugly! I collect them just cuz I need to complete my set(s).
do you know on some coin forums, they have avatars you can choose from? i got this one from a coin forum that has avatars you can choose from. you just right click on it and save the pictutre as. then you go to the control panel and click brouse on you computer. the picture should be there. click on it, and click upload! its that easy!:kewl:
