First, I must give credit to @heavycam.monstervam for this great idea. It's a First Day Cover (FDR) album being used to store and display paper money. I liked his idea so much that I went ahead and ordered an album for myself. It really is a nice way to display the notes and look through them easily. I'm very happy with it.
I'm not, nor have ever been a postage stamp collector, so really didn't know what they were used for until I just Googled it. It looks to work well.
I had never heard of it either until recently. The one I got is the standard size which has smaller sleeves so it doesn't fit graded notes. There's a larger one that fits graded holders in the sleeves. @heavycam.monstervam has the larger size and posted photos of it (see here).
It probably could but I imagine it would get real heavy. The weight of the coins would probably make flipping the sleeves unstable as well as possibly damage them. I've already packed it away but next time I'm looking through it I'll try to remember to test it with a mint set and let you know.
Looks great man, fits small size notes well. I'll hafta keep my eyes peeled for some more of them. The flea market starts back up in a few weeks, can't wait.....
While I've only had the album less than a week, I have not experienced any of the problems you mentioned. Not sure if you can tell by my photos, but I have the notes in a holder/sleeve before I put it into the album sleeve. That gives it a nice snug fit. I also like that I can pull it out of the album sleeve and I can handle it without concern because it is still protected by the holder sleeve. Maybe if I didn't have them in the holder sleeve they could slide out (???). I wouldn't know though since I won't ever be putting them in the album sleeve "raw". As for pages sticking I don't see how that could happen unless someone touches them and leaves a sticky residue. I suggest washing your hands more often if it is happening to you.
