Curious about this 2012 Lincoln Cent

    I'm not a error collector but from time to time I like to look at some coins up close. So rummaging through some pocket change I noticed the reverse of this 2012 cent was a bit different.

    You can see the bottom leg in E in the word Cent has been chopped through by the straight line right underneath it which extends into it. I don't know if this is an error but I find it strange. In either case I wanted to share it and perhaps there are others out there that have a coin with something similar going on.

    It took a hit. These are dumped from the presses into a huge hopper as they are minted. They bang against each other as they are dumped, causing marks like that. It's not an error.
