OK I'm pretty sure "TY" of liberty is MD, the earlobe may be PMD but doesn't look like it, and the nose and lips?? Don't want to say MD about the nose and lips but it may be. Looking for some more info. Thanks as always.
All of it is from a nice case of MD. The TY has the design reduced with those areas being squashed; the portrait has classic MD and the ear, while it almost looks like a hit, as there's MD in the same side elsewhere (E-SE) I would assume it is likely MD too.
MD, PMD, I get so confused but his coin is machine doubling MD, PMD, I get so confused but his coin is machine/mechanical/strike/ejection doubling of course. Please ask yourself, "is the doubling scooted, pushed or pulled"? "Is it flat and shelve like and just an extenion of the primary image"? "Is there any process during planchet or hubbing production that could have caused this"? "Can you imagine if dies worked loose and there is a minor "flooping" together during the striking and some random elements of the coins designe be smushed and then duplicated"? That's all you got to do when deciding about coins like this.
