I'll upload a photo tomorrow when I get my scanner up, but in the meantime I wanted to post a description. In my change tonight, I found a US 1974 penny with a small head facing Lincoln which looks like a likeness of JFK. It's etched into the coin very precisely. Just curious if anyone has heard of anything like this, because the perfectness of the image makes it seem very organized (as opposed to a bored person defacing some money).
This question pops up every so often. These coins were usually attached to a card that compared Lincoln and Kennedy. Things like: both had a VP named Johnson Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln. Lincoln's assassin shot him from a theatre and fled to a warehouse (actually a barn). Kennedy's assassin shot him from a warehouse and fled to a theatre. Curious stuff like that. The image of Kennedy is stamped (not etched) into a common Lincoln cent. These are common and are not worth any premium (except perhaps to a handful of people). Many would call these coins damaged due to the image of Kennedy being stamped into the coin.
There was an article about this just a few days ago over at CoinWorld. Have a look. http://coinworld.com/features/022309/022309.asp
