I have been curious about this one for awhile. It was labeled as a cud but it is not raised. Searching through Err-Ref.com and I do not find anything exactly like it. At least not with Lincoln's ghost. So I was hoping you guys might tell me what you think about it. Thanks Misty
83 you would think you could see the zinc I am couple drinks out to many though. Platting error because I think I may see some zinc on the reverse. If it were a cud that size isn't there supposed to be displacement on the reverse. Either way man that looks cool!!!! I was kinda hoping it was all copper.
Struck through wow I was just looking at Late stage die cap and was thinking that. Struck through grease? That's a big one. Neat!
Maybe Mike Diamond will chime in on this one. It looks like it was struck through a split or torn die cap. Whatever it was struck through, it's a nice find.
Ok so say its struck through. Where did the extra metal go? There is a small little lip at the 10/11 o'clock position on the obverse. Weight is 2.48g Would the weight be more, less or the same for being struck through? Also what would the weight be for a flawed planchet?
