As this is the 100 year anniversary of the Chicago Cubs last World Series title, I would like to conduct the following contest. If the Cubs win the World Series, I will give away an MS quality 1908 IHC. If the Cubs win the National League, but fail in the WS, I will give away an MS 1945 S LHC. (1945 was last year Cubs won NL) In order to qualify, you must be first to name one of the 96 players that have STARTED a game at 3rd for the Cubs since should be hall of famer Ron Santo was traded. Santo was traded after the 1973 season. 96 players have started at 3rd since 1974, so many chances for your name to be drawn out of the hat. I will keep a running tally throughout the season. YAY!!! GO CUBBIES!!!! I was born in chicago allllll 15 years ago, and been a cubs fan ever since. Hopefully they can pull it off this year, boy what a 100th anniversary that would be ! and for my third baseman, i'll go recent with Aramis Ramirez monkeyman
Bill Mueller. And as a Dodger fan, I thank the cubs for giving us Mueller for is five weeks of service.
OK if its after Santos then I would go with Ryan Sandberg but if we count before then how about Smiling Stan Hack And yep I am a Cubbie's fan Sanberg played mainly at 2nd but did play 133 games at 3rd and also 7 as short stop, to me that is a bit of all rounder
Josh Lansford, but check out Alvin Dark in 6/30/59 game. I don't really know alot about the Cubs. Tigers however, I have been a fan since the 80's.
Steve Bartman. Oh wait, he didn't actually play 3rd base. He played the 3rd base line. Oh well, it doesn't really matter because the Cubs will not win either the World Series or the NLCS. Not on their Centenial anniversary or any other anniversary. Go WhiteSox!!
Steve Ontiveros is another... I actually have 6 or 7 obscure names that I can share when the contest is over. ... and YES, I am a Sox fan...
Thought you might have picked T. Z. then! Of course, Gary Scott playing third for the Cubs probably made your day. Most major league clubs have singles hitters playing 3rd, or wait, they don't.
Die hard Sox fan but would like to see the Cubs win a World Series for my mom. She's 76 and NEVER experienced it! Ron Santo is a Hall of Famer in my book and has been for years. Go Cubs (unless you face the Sox).
hehehe. I almost did pick him, but I thought I'd leave that easy one out there for someone else, maybe another Cards fan.
