I picked up my first Crusader coin & am running into a brick wall researching it. The coin was labelled by a previous collector as "CRUSADER (1202) BO AHEMUS III (1201-32) tcgubm Silver Denier, Moon inside, short cross" I've found information about Behomond III of Antioch, who seems to have minted coins in this style prior to 1201, but haven't found anything about a Bo Ahemus III. Here's some of the things I did find: http://www.coinweek.com/ancient-coins/medieval-numismatics-coins-of-the-crusaders/ There was also a Bohemond IV who minted coinage after 1201: https://coins.ha.com/itm/crusader-s...065.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 So, what do I have here, and what's it worth?
I can't quite make out the author's names there (black on red is an odd typeset choice). Is that a pretty good reference though? Certainly a hole in my numismatic library (for now...)
The book is by Alex Malloy. I don't have a good feel for values but a very rough guess is between $25-50. I have one that's similar but bought it 30 years ago and I think it is a relatively common issue (for crusader coins).
