Interesting. So Kickstarter is almost just another marketing tool nowadays, with people effectively being able to preorder merchandise. Kind of different.
I only decided to actually go to their website due to the Veronica Mars movie, but what was it before? They never allowed for equity share in the project, and most of the things seem to be exactly what you mentioned. I was wondering, though, $7500 for a 60x26 ink piece seems pretty high for an unknown artist. 100 hours of work for art would normally be... $1500-$2500 for commissioning from an unknown artist, wouldn't it? I might be completely off-base, since a lot of my pricing is based upon what art costs in the Philippines ($3-$7 per hour for commissioned work) and converting it backward to US rates ($20-$35 per hour for commissioned work, for projects of 20+ hours). Even if I am, I can't be 67-80 off, could I?
